The upgrade process to WordPress 2.5 was as smooth as it can possibly be — simple, fast and without a single error message. However, there were a few problems that became apparent only after the upgrade. This article will explain those issues in detail and show how to solve them. Here is a short list of problems solved:
- When trying to log-in after the upgrade, the following error message is displayed: “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”
- Yet Another Related Posts plugin returns “Fatal error: Call to undefined function merge_filters() in … includes.php on line 73”.
- Popularity Contest plugin returns “Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error” when reactivated.

Upgraded to WordPress 2.5 RC-2 and then 5 hours later to WP 2.5 final. Had a few problems which I will explain and show how to solve in a follow up post.

Although we are not even close to the middle of 2008, I can honestly say that PHP Speedy (designed and developed by Leon Chevalier) is the plugin which the WordPress community has been waiting for since the very first day.
Download it, install it and watch your blog load faster than you have ever imagined (even with that huge chunk of other plugins you have installed). Fantastic job, Leon!

There will be no new posts until the next week (March 24) as there haven’t been any for the past few weeks already due to the studies and the current vacation.
