Although <a href="http://arstechnica.com/open-source/news/2009/06/amazon-code-release-irrelevant-kindle-is-still-closed.ars" rel="nofollow">Amazon doesn't fully support the ideas of Free Software</a>, all Kindles are based on Linux. Anonymous, Kindle does use Linux kernel and because of GNU GPL they have released the source files. Although Amazon doesn’t fully support the ideas of Free Software, all Kindles are based on Linux.
