Some time ago I said that Apple should call their phones simply by numbers in the order they’re released, instead of adding suffixes such as G and GS. Now they do.

Well I guess they must have read your post and taken your words to heart. Who knew you had such clout?;-)
Most of their software has this versioning scheme, so I guess it’s no wonder they applied it to iPhone as well.
