Welcome to this little demonstration of how I think WordPress should look in future. Feel free to drag the elements around.
Notice the My Tasks bar above. It would contain links to the most visited sections of the dashboard. One extra db call on admin side per user wouldn't hurt. Every admin would get a truly personalized dashboard just by using it.
